Job Highlights

The Health, Safety and Environmental Manager leads all environmental, health, safety, process safety, and security programs for the Kalama chemical manufacturing facility, ensuring compliance with OSHA, EPA, PSM, RMP, ISO 14001, and all applicable regulatory and corporate standards. This role oversees HSE performance and regulatory compliance across a complex operation that includes continuous and batch chemical processes, hazardous waste-burning boilers, and wastewater treatment systems.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Lead all site HSE programs, regulatory compliance, and “license to operate” requirements.
  • Manage and develop a team of HSE professionals while driving a strong site safety culture and operational discipline.
  • Lead audits, inspections, incident investigations, corrective actions, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Serve as the primary site contact for regulatory agencies and corporate compliance resources.
  • Develop metrics, manage departmental budgets, and support capital projects and workers’ compensation programs.
  • Provide leadership and support for approximately 160 employees and contractors in a highly regulated manufacturing environment.
Experience / Skills
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, science, or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 10+ years of HSE experience in industrial or chemical manufacturing environments with proven success leading a team.
  • Experience in OSHA PSM-regulated facilities strongly preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA, EPA, process safety, and environmental regulations (Title V, RCRA, etc.).
  • Ability to lead audits, investigations, regulatory compliance activities, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Strong communication, analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.

In accordance with Washington state pay transparency requirements, the pay range for this role is Min: $129,600 to Max: $216,000. Where an individual falls within this range will depend on the hiring budget, internal equity, and the candidate’s skills, experience, and qualifications.
