Job Description

Senior Systems Engineer – Shape the Future of Autonomous Flight with Airbus‑Flexrotor.

We are looking for an experienced systems engineer to serve as a technical cornerstone for the Flexrotor platform. You will bridge complex software foundations and physical hardware, defining the MBSE models that bring autonomous missions to life.

Responsibilities
  • System Architecture & Modeling (40%):
Gather system needs, define architecture, and derive subsystem requirements and acceptance criteria. Generate design specifications and models for systems. Perform system model development, analysis, and review tasks under minimal supervision. Define and architect the software foundation for simulators, ensuring the development team can produce the required software components. Develop system models from derived customer requirements and define the system‑level design following MBSE using SysML or UML.

Capture system design for missions, functions, and interfaces.
  • Validation, Documentation & Collaboration (35%):
Coordinate with engineering and program management disciplines to define system specifications and requirements. Support validation, verification, acceptance, and certification activities. Develop, maintain, and produce technical documentation and system/subsystem specifications. Verify and comply with engineering documentation standards and test procedures. Establish and maintain filing systems or databases to track project status. Prepare and conduct design reviews with internal and external customers.

Collaborate with the Ground Systems team to ensure user requirements are fully captured and traced. Work with development teams to share the high‑level architecture.
  • Optimization, Leadership & Strategy (25%):
May lead and direct the work of other engineers and stakeholders while acting as the SME. Act as a lead on less complex tasks and be responsible for a portion of a module, analysis, or design review. Provide architectural guidance throughout the project lifecycle. Support development of technical proposals and provide comments on the technical content and level of effort.

Mentor junior engineers and promote best practices. Conduct trade‑off studies and evaluate optimizations, new technologies, and tools. Drive the ramp‑up of Flexrotor with knowledge of software and hardware solutions within a product environment.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Systems Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Computer Science, or an appropriate discipline from an accredited institution.
  • Eight (8) or more years of experience in systems engineering, with specific experience in leadership or mentoring.
  • Strong knowledge of systems engineering fundamentals: requirements development, system architecture, and lifecycle management.
  • Experience in Model‑Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) using SysML/UML for mission, functional, and interface modeling.
  • Proficiency with software‑intensive system architectures, including simulator foundations and software‑hardware integration.
  • Strong working knowledge of MBSE tools (SysML or UML) and experience defining software foundations for simulators or complex product environments.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook), G‑suite, JIRA/Confluence.
  • Preferred skills: experience in the aerospace and defense industry, specifically with UAS/UAV systems; experience with Magic Draw/Cameo Systems Modeler; project/program management certification.
  • US Person under ITAR definition (U.S. Citizen, green card holder, or person covered under existing ITAR license).
  • Physical requirements:

Onsite or remote 80% onsite; vision, hearing, speaking, equipment operation, carrying/lifting, pushing/pulling, walking.
  • Willingness to travel up to 20% domestic and international.
Benefits
  • Competitive base salary ($125k–$200k) with incentive compensation, profit sharing, retirement savings plan, and Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP).
  • Paid time off including personal time, holidays, and generous paid parental leave program.
  • Comprehensive health and welfare coverage: medical, high‑deductible health plans, prescription, dental, vision, life, disability, Employee Assistance Plan, and…
