Northeast Region - Colville, WA. Work hours and partial telework flexibility may be available and considered.

$6,259.00 - $8,415.00 Monthly.

Overview

Based in rural Colville, WA, the Civil Engineer 3 designs and manages critical forest road networks, conducts structural bridge inspections, and engineers innovative fish passage structures. Responsibilities include surveying, database modeling, public works contract management, and heavy equipment crew oversight across Washington’s terrain.

Responsibilities
  • Lead preparation and technical review of timber sale road construction contracts and plans.
  • Provide expert support for timber sale compliance, field reconnaissance, cost estimating, and project implementation.
  • Identify and mitigate fish blockages on region road infrastructure, including permitting interactions and design of fish‑passable structures.
  • Design solutions for maintaining and repairing forest roads to meet Forest Practices standards.
  • Lead and supervise up to two civil engineer 2’s, one engineering aide, and one heavy equipment operator; manage timesheets, leave requests, and workflow.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s of Science in Civil or Forest Engineering or related field plus two years of forest engineering experience, or equivalent education/experience.
  • Experience in timber harvesting, forest road layout, and logging practices.
  • Knowledge of Forest Practices and related rules.
  • Ability to understand, interpret, and create written, oral, and graphic directions, maps, plans, drawings, and specifications within policies and regulations.
  • Experience with contract development and administration for road construction, maintenance, and abandonment.
  • Knowledge of logging and construction equipment, including costs, capabilities, and task durations.
Desired Qualifications
  • Professional Engineer registration.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, ARCGIS, Traverse

    PC, ROADENG, and related engineering programs.
  • Experience with GPS, Total Station, transit, laser level, and basic surveying tools.
  • Skill in supervision, leadership, and management.
