As a Senior Innovation and Design Engineer, you will be able to work with some of the most talented engineers in the design and development of physical distribution systems around the globe. A successful candidate will have an established background in developing high‑performance physical systems, a strong technical problem solving ability, excellent project management skills, and an internal motivation to achieve results in a fast‑paced and often ambiguous environment.

Key Job Responsibilities
  • Invent, design, and implement engineering solutions to complex material flow/transformation and human/machine efficiency problems throughout the global Amazon supply chain.
  • Lead and coordinate design and innovation efforts to develop optimal solutions for the transportation network through equipment specification, material flow, process design, site layout, and intellectual property considerations.
  • Collaboration with internal teams and external vendors to generate high quality, cost effective solutions in very short periods of time.
  • Simultaneously manage multiple projects and tasks while effectively influencing, negotiating, and communicating with internal and external business partners, contractors and vendors.
  • Provide technical leadership for large‑scale engineering projects.

About the Team

Our team shapes the future of Amazon's fulfillment network from its earliest stages. Within Worldwide Design and Engineering, you'll lead critical design input discussions that influence billions in infrastructure investment and define how Amazon serves customers globally. This role demands strategic thinking at both macro levels (understanding network‑wide ripple effects) and micro levels (mastering operational intricacies). You'll earn trust across senior stakeholders, dive deep into complex data to drive high‑stakes decisions, and own outcomes that transform how Amazon operates.

We’re seeking an exceptional leader who thrives on ambiguity, evaluates sophisticated trade‑offs, and delivers impact r work here will define Amazon’s operational capabilities for years to come.

Basic Qualifications
  • 5+ years of Design/Innovation, research & development, manufacturing, process, industrial engineering, or related experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent
  • Experience in logistics
  • Experience in management of engineering design projects
  • Experience using business or technical software like MS Excel, MS Project, and CAD software
Preferred Qualifications
  • 5+ years of progressive technology implementation, or 5+ years of senior leadership experience
  • Master’s degree in Engineering (any domain), Operations, Business Administration, or a related field
  • Experience with complex automated material handling equipment, packaging technologies, and systems and high‑speed manufacturing
  • Experience with financial analysis and modeling
