Job DescriptionLead the Future of Autonomous Aviation:
Engineering Project Manager (VTOL UAS). You will spearhead the development, manufacturing, and sustainment of cutting‑edge Vertical Takeoff and Landing Unmanned Aircraft Systems (VTOL UAS). Reporting directly to the Chief Engineer, you will drive multiple cross‑functional teams and steer complex hardware products from proposal through production launch.
The Airbus Helicopters Flexrotor Program offers one of the most sophisticated small tactical unmanned aerial systems (STUAS) with vertical take‑off and landing (VTOL). It can be used day or night by US and allied forces for intelligence, surveillance, target acquisition and reconnaissance on land and at sea.

Responsibilities Engineering Project Management- Creates and maintains the master engineering project schedule and risks and issues register for projects of all sizes, from proposal to completion.
- Drives weekly goal setting, progress tracking, and status communication through efficient small meetings.
- Ensures all necessary engineering deliverables and coordination—approvals, BOM, drawing releases, work instructions, configuration control, hardware lead‑times, inspections, manufacturing trials, tool‑kits, verification testing, and reports—are accounted for.
- Identifies, tracks, and resolves risks and issues, assigns ownership, and mitigates obstacles to maintain focus on core deliverables.
- Creates work breakdown structure (WBS) from team input, adding missing steps and analyzing high‑level milestones, dependencies, critical path, free slack, resource utilization, risk, issues, and cost.
- Prepares weekly status briefs and materials for project reviews and maintains a backlog of projects for periodic review and disposition.
- Develops and continually improves the engineering project management function, its processes, and tools.
- Coordinates and performs necessary hands‑on technical work, engineering change documentation, and administrative tasks not assigned to the project team.
- Bachelor of Science degree or greater in mechanical, industrial, electrical, aerospace engineering, or equivalent.
- 10+ years of professional experience, including
- 5+ years as a product development engineer leading hardware through design, drawing release, supplier selection, prototype testing, pre‑production issue resolution, and successful production launch.
- 5+ years as a project manager managing multiple engineering projects through all development phases.
- Experience producing integrated project schedules and reports in MS Project or equivalent, identifying dependencies, critical path, free slack, resource utilization, cost, and risk.
- Basic technical knowledge of UAS, its subsystems, and technology.
- Travel required:
Minimal (less than 5% domestic and international). - Citizenship:
Must be a US Person under ITAR definition. - Physical requirements include vision, hearing, speaking, equipment operation, carrying, lifting, pushing/pulling, sitting, squatting/kneeling, standing, walking, and ability to travel independently.
- Experience with PDM/ERP systems managing or supporting software development projects in compliance with DO‑178 certification standards for airborne systems.
