, is a full-service electrical services company with 35 years of expertise in electrical design engineering, new building electrical design-build construction, electrical repairs and service, voice and data structured cabling systems, and security systems for commercial properties.
We are seeking a Licensed Electrical Design Engineer to join our dynamic team. This role offers the opportunity to lead electrical design projects from concept to completion, ensuring compliance with local codes, standards, and best practices. The ideal candidate will bring technical expertise, leadership, and a collaborative spirit to develop exceptional results for our clients.
Responsibilities- Provide professional input on design proposals and electrical drawings.
- Analyze and provide resolution to engineering and design execution concerns.
- Maintain ownership of design concepts and specifications from schematic design into design development through permitting and final construction drawings.
- Utilize company standards when designing and drafting.
- With approval from the Design Director, incorporate decision recommendations; make decisions regarding design suitability using knowledge of specified product materials and production process.
- Stay current on and apply codes; identify variances allowed by code exceptions to devise value engineering solutions on design challenges.
- Perform electrical calculations using specialized design tools or software.
- Lead, participate, and generally represent the firm in project coordination meetings with clients and internal project teams.
- Initiate discussions when appropriate; plan, schedule, and coordinate the detailed phases of assigned project work; deliver a project status presentation, when applicable.
- Coordinate as necessary across various construction disciplines, including architectural, structural, mechanical, and plumbing.
- Complete work on time and within budget.
- Identify and communicate changes to design or scope that may impact deadlines, workloads, or assignments of the project and project budget; ensure that the Project Manager/Project Lead is informed immediately of those changes.
- Provide leadership and support in your areas of expertise to younger staff.
- Where project requirements dictate, develop fee proposals and requests for additional services.
- Pursue learning, continuing education, and training opportunities to network within the electrical engineering and construction industry.
- Stay updated on code cycle changes, industry trends, and technical tools to work.
- Review, stamp, and sign engineering documents when required.
- Represent the firm professionally by enhancing client experience and building confidence and respect, constantly nurturing existing and new relationships with the goal of repeat business or referrals. Clients should think highly enough of you to request you specifically for future work.
- Promote business development opportunities.
- B.S. in Electrical Engineering or equivalent work experience with five years of electrical design experience in power distribution, lighting, and grounding systems for Commercial, Industrial, Healthcare, Aerospace, Retail, Hospitality, Office, Corporate, and Tenant Improvement sector projects.
- Possess in-depth working knowledge and application of the electrical discipline, including codes, standards, and design theory in applicable industries.
- Possess strong leadership and interpersonal skills.
- Has the ability to apply electrical engineering techniques commonly used in Commercial, Industrial, Healthcare, Aerospace, Retail, Hospitality, Office, Corporate, and Tenant Improvement sector projects.
- Possess a solid ability to interpret and apply relevant codes and standards to electrical engineering design initiatives.
- Proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, Navisworks, AGi
32, ETAP, Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook. - Ability to travel to off-site locations when required.
- The employee must sit (or stand) at a desk for long periods throughout the day. Occasional lifting of up to 25 pounds may also be required. During site visits, the employee could be involved in the following activities:
- Long periods of standing or walking.
- Climbing vertical or freestanding ladders, holding on to the top rung with one hand and lifting a ceiling tile or opening the roof hatch with the other while carrying flashlights, tools, drawings, a camera, or other items.
- Crawling over and under ductwork and piping in very cramped equipment utility rooms and equipment mezzanines.
- Using tools to open equipment access doors.
- Walking on roofs, catwalks, and over parapets.
- Listening and communicating in a loud environment.
- Using computers or other electronic devices away from a desk.
- Lifting of up to 25 pounds.
