Job Title
The primary purpose of this position is:
To develop, modify and apply inspection techniques such as ultrasonic, eddy current, radiographic or liquid penetrant on parts, components or complete systems for which procedures/processes have not been developed.
DutiesDUTY 1:
Using the ultrasonic-eddy current processes, performs inspections of aircraft, engine, missile, ground support equipment, etc., parts and components, support equipment structural members, components, parts, and other materials for which inspection procedures and/or acceptability standards are inadequate or not available.
DUTY 2:
Conducts industrial radiography (x-ray) tests on aircraft components and parts for which procedures/processes have not been developed. Studies blueprints, drawings, loft tables, and other similar technical data to determine type and size of jig and/or fixture required to hold camera in proper position, types of metals and materials to be x-rayed, distance of shot, voltage(s) to be applied, exposure time, type film, and safety precautions to be observed.
DUTY 3:
Ultrasonic eddy, current and magnaflux/zyglo inspection duties.
DUTY 4:
Administers the Spectrometric Oil Analysis Program (SOAP).
DUTY 5:
Utilizes safety practices and procedures and complies with security regulations, directives, and policies.
