Sound/Lighting Technician - Full-Time
Salary: $75k - $85k + Super
Job Overview:
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Sound and Lighting Technicians to join our live production team.
The ideal candidate will be responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining sound and lighting systems during live events such as concerts, theatrical performances, corporate events, and other productions. The technician will ensure that all technical aspects of sound and lighting run smoothly, contributing to an exceptional audience experience.
Key Responsibilities:- Set up, operate, and break down sound and lighting equipment for live events.
- Collaborate with the production team to understand event requirements and design specifications.
- Program and operate digital soundboards, lighting consoles, and other audio/visual equipment.
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to sound, lighting, and electrical systems during rehearsals and live events.
- Adjust sound levels, microphone placements, and lighting cues according to the director or event coordinatorsinstructions.
- Perform routine maintenance and repairs on equipment to ensure optimal performance.
- Coordinate with other crew members, such as stage managers and performers, to synchronize sound and lightingeffects.
- Maintain a safe work environment by adhering to safety protocols and regulations, especially when handling electrical systems.
- Keep up to date with the latest technology and techniques in sound and lighting for live production.
- A formal qualification in audio engineering, lighting design, or a related technical field is preferred. At least 3 years of relevant experience may substitute for the formal qualification.
- Proven experience as a Sound or Lighting Technician, preferably in a live production environment.
- Strong understanding of live sound systems, including microphones, speakers, amplifiers, and mixing consoles.
- Expertise in operating and programming lighting or audio consoles.
- Ability to troubleshoot and repair equipment under time-sensitive conditions.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work under pressure.
- Flexibility to work nights, weekends, and irregular hours depending on the event schedule.
- Ability to lift heavy equipment and work in high-stress, fast-paced environments.
- Comfort with working in confined spaces and at heights.
