Finance Manager - Inventory Optimization, SCOT AIM Finance
Job | Services LLC
OverviewThe Supply Chain Optimization Technologies (SCOT) team sits at the core of Amazon's global supply chain, determining what inventory to buy, when to buy it, how much to order, where to position it, and how to recover value from unproductive inventory. Operating at massive scale across hundreds of product lines and billions of dollars of worldwide inventory, SCOT’s systems leverage machine learning, AI, and autonomous decision‑making to shape strategy, drive investment decisions, and deliver measurable improvements to Amazon's supply chain economics.
The RoleWe seek a Finance Manager who partners deeply with senior executives, including Directors and VPs, as the financial owner of our Automated Inventory Management portfolio. The role sits at the intersection of finance and AI in supply chain, with high agency and autonomy to drive investment decisions and shape how these systems are built and scaled.
Key Responsibilities- Partner with Science and Product teams to develop financial strategies and drive controllership across Automated Inventory Management systems, ensuring technology investments deliver maximum long‑term free cash flow and measurable supply‑chain efficiency gains.
- Build financial models that evaluate multi‑million‑dollar technology investments and their impact on inventory placement, availability, and cost to serve, navigating high degrees of ambiguity.
- Conduct rigorous financial assessments of inventory defects—including entitlement analysis, estimation accuracy, and opportunity costs—translating findings into measurable P&L impact across the network.
- Maintain metrics and audit mechanisms to evaluate algorithmic decision outcomes, flag under‑performance and surface data‑driven recommendations for course‑correction.
- Develop compelling narratives and financial analyses for executive reviews.
- Leverage AI agents, GenAI assistants, and AI‑powered data platforms to accelerate analysis, improve productivity, and continuously explore new ways to deliver higher‑quality insights faster.
The role involves close collaboration with operations research scientists, product managers, and engineers from day‑to‑day. Tasks range from building a financial framework to evaluate new algorithms, to presenting findings in VP‑level reviews that influence investments in inventory infrastructure.
About the TeamThe AIM Finance team is a small, high‑impact group embedded within SCOT, serving as the financial backbone for AI‑driven inventory systems. The team operates with significant autonomy, senior leadership exposure, and a mandate to think strategically, not merely report.
