Purpose of Job

The purpose of this position is to manage the clinical and/or social services activities of participants of the assigned Accountability Court (Treatment and Accountability Court, Felony Drug Court, Veterans Treatment Court, Family Treatment Court, DUI/Drug Court). This position acts as liaison with participants and their treatment providers, social service agencies, and other organizations.

Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Providing intensive case management services to Court participants.
  • Working with treatment providers to develop a comprehensive treatment plan consisting of integrated mental health and substance use treatment services based upon individual needs.
  • Managing the individual cases of Court participants and maintaining case files that capture relevant data in accordance with the Standards for Georgia Accountability Courts and the Council of Accountability Court Judges.
  • Supervising participants in their effort to complete their assigned program.
  • Ensuring the participant under the coordinator's supervision are closely monitored for eventual success in the program.
  • Performing additional tasks as assigned.

Work Schedule:

Mon - Fri 8am - 5pm with some nights/weekends; may be required to work on religious holidays. Regular and predictable attendance is required. Must work cooperatively with others.

Must have a valid driver's license.

Education:

Bachelor’s degree in psychology, social services or related area and minimum of two years in a legal, clinical or case management setting required, or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge skills, and abilities for this position. Master’s degree preferred. Supervisory experience is preferred. Licensure or certification in clinical, substance abuse, or court management field preferred.

Key Responsibilities
  • Acts as case manager for connecting participants to treatment, social services, public benefits and other wrap‑around services.
  • Conducts initial assessments and completes steps required in evaluating new participants if the Court Coordinator is not available or assigns duty.
  • Develops and maintains a network of referral and community relations related to the treatment of Court participants.
  • Attends and participates in all weekly status review meetings and court sessions and compiles weekly updates on court participants.
  • Responsible for developing goals, strategies, and objectives related to the individual treatment plans of Court participants.
  • Conducts evidence‑based group therapy sessions to meet identified needs of participant population.
  • Develops and implements appropriate therapeutic activities and/or programs.
  • Addresses issues identified in the individualized service plan and focuses on adjustment problems that occur at the workplace, home, school, or family as appropriate.
  • Provides psycho‑educational instruction in areas such as social skills, communication skills, parenting skills, mental illness management, and relapse prevention.
  • Provides coordinated treatment for both mental illness and substance use disorders.
  • Maintains participants’ files in the State‑approved case management database and assists with the collection of statutorily mandated data points to ensure compliance.
  • Ensures compliance with federal, state and local laws and county codes.
  • Answers telephone, records and distributes messages, and assists the general public with issues related to the Accountability Court.
  • Assists with training and informational sessions for law enforcement, probation officers, attorneys and others on the terms of participation, program requirements and common issues and signs of mental illness.
  • Provides needs assessment services to participants to determine necessary social services required by participants.
  • May act as a designated third party representative or similar role for participants to assist in their applications for Social Security disability or similar services.
  • Makes appropriate referrals and documents referrals for outside services.
