Location: McChord Air Force Base
Duties Conduct training for the upgrade of unqualified active duty and/or reserve aircrew members and proficiency training for qualified active duty, reservists and ART (Air Reserve Technician) personnel. Analyze and interpret unit training objectives, develop training programs and training other aircrew such that the highest level of combat mission-ready proficiency of assigned crew members is maintained. Fly as an aircrew member in unit aircraft in support of the unit mission.
Use night vision devices, fly in mountainous terrain, performing combat assault landings on unprepared runways and accomplish aerial delivery of cargo/personnel (airplane typical) are required. Establish training programs to ensure maximum utilization of training facilities, adherence to training standards and to avoid duplication of training effort. Represent the unit by participating in discussions, meetings or serve on panels or committees.
Prepare and deliver oral presentations such as briefings and training sessions to secure operation, resolve issues and convey information relative to flight training and flying operations. Requirements Conditions of employment

* Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret security clearance.

* A relocation or recruitment incentive may be authorized for this position, which may require completion of a service agreement.
* Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret security clearance.

* This is a centrally managed position. Travel and relocation expenses will be paid.
* The incumbent must possess demonstrated leadership and managerial abilities essential to successful accomplishment of responsibilities inherent in this position.
* The incumbent of the position must become instructor qualified within two years from the date of appointment to the position. This is a condition of employment.
* Direct Deposit:

* Depending on the type of position (competitive/excepted) you are selected for, you will be required to serve a 1-year probationary period OR 2-year trial period.
* Upon completion of your probationary/trial period, your employment will be terminated unless you receive certification, in writing, that your continued employment advances the public interest.
* The incumbent may be required to work overtime to meet workload demands. Qualifications In order to qualify, you must meet the qualification requirements described in the supplemental Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for Air Reserve Technicians (ART) flying positions, dated 2017. Applicants must meet the following requirements: FLYING HOURS/CERTIFICATION:
Must have been awarded or qualify for a USAF Navigator or Combat Systems Officer rating and hold a valid aviation service aeronautical order; must possess a minimum of 1,000 Total Military Flight Time and instructor qualified in unit aircraft and must be Instructor Qualified in MDS.
NOTE:
You must submit an AFTAR 209 or any official flying hour report and any official document that shows the date received aviation service aeronautical order before your entrance on duty date. FAILURE TO DO SO WILL RESULT IN AN INELIGBILE RATING. AND FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS:
Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-12 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-13 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks.
