Salary: $3,477.00 – $4,632.00 Monthly.

Position Overview

The Department of Natural Resources (DNR) is seeking four Initial Attack Dispatchers and one Logistics Dispatcher to join the team at the Northeast Washington Interagency Communications Center (NEWICC) for the upcoming fire season. As an Initial Attack Dispatcher you will track personnel, equipment, and aircraft for fire suppression, provide intel and administrative support, and coordinate with Incident Command. Logistics Dispatchers will create and fill resource orders, manage weather data, and support logistics and intel operations.

Responsibilities
  • Emergency Fire Dispatch and Phone Communications – facilitate communications between field resources (both DNR and Federal agencies) and the dispatch center; monitor multiple radio frequencies; dispatch resources to incidents; support incident management.
  • Fire Reporting – process and complete fire reports with detail and accuracy to support national fire data.
  • Administrative Support – answer and direct phone calls; provide accurate information to the public regarding burn restrictions and fire danger ratings; scan and file documents; maintain reference materials.
  • Support NEWICC Intelligence & Logistics

    Functional Area

    s – receive requests for logistical or intel support; use dispatch procedures to send personnel and equipment; create, place, and fill resource orders for equipment, overhead, crews, and supplies using IROC.
Required Qualifications
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Experience involving public contact or communication (radio communications, switchboard operator, clerical office work).
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.

Desired Qualifications
  • High School diploma or GED equivalent.
  • One season of experience as a Wildland Fire Dispatcher 1, other dispatch experience, wildland fire suppression experience, or clerical experience.
  • NWCG qualifications as a Radio Operator (RADO), Expanded Dispatch Recorder (EDRC), or Initial Attack Dispatcher Trainee (IADP‑T).
