Position: SAFETY & OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH SPECIALIST with Security Clearance
Location: Keyport

Duties
* You will conduct scheduled and unscheduled inspections of buildings, dry docks, on ships, piers and other facilities to identify, evaluate, provide recommendations, advice and guidance to employees, supervisors and managers.
* You will evaluate shipyard compliance in safety program functional areas, making recommendations for improvement.
* You will develop and conduct training for employees, supervisors and managers on general safety and occupational health subjects.
* You will conduct mishap investigations and prepare guidance in the report of findings with recommendations to correct unsafe, unhealthful acts, conditions or procedures which caused injury, health impairment, or property damage.
* You will prepare revisions of safety and health instructions. Requirements Conditions of employment

* Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
* Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.

* Generally, current federal employees applying for GS jobs must serve at least one year at the next lower grade level. This requirement is called time-in-grade. Time-in-grade requirements must be met by the closing date of this announcement.
* Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.
* Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service.
* You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
* This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
* This is a bargaining unit position. Qualifications Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-9 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
* Experience analyzing data on work operations, mishaps, and safety practices to prepare reports of findings that propose corrective measures for unsafe conditions and hazardous work practices
* Experience investigating mishaps, hazard reports, and unsafe or unhealthful working conditions to protect personnel and property
* Experience advising personnel of safety and occupational health measures to control or eliminate hazardous operating processes
* Experience conducting safety and occupational health inspections and surveys to evaluate effectiveness of unit safety program. Education In lieu of specialized experience, you may qualify with the following education or combination of both education and experience:
Successful completion of a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree in safety or occupational health fields (safety, occupational health, industrial hygiene) or a degree in other related fields that included or was supplemented by at least 24 semester hours of study form among the following (or closely related) disciplines:…
