Location: Joint Base Lewis McChord
Responsibilities
- Assign work and special duties through shift Four Lead Dispatchers.
- Plan work schedules, revise schedule to meet peak workload periods and manpower shortages.
- Responsible for the receipt and effective evaluation of 911 emergency calls.
- Provide emergency medical dispatching (EMD) assistance to callers with medical emergencies using the local authority's emergency medical dispatch system.
- Monitor status and availability of police, fire and medical field units to assure an appropriate response is made.
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- One year supervisory probationary period.
- Position is subject to shift work, requiring an alternate schedule, nights, weekends and holidays, and may involve wearing a uniform.
- Incumbent must work (mission essential) regardless of weather conditions, Terrorist Force Protection Condition (TFPCON) or installation closure and report to the duty station at the regularly scheduled time.
- The work is performed in a highly stressful, restricted office environment.
- Must possess and maintain certification in CPR.
- Must possess and maintain certification in Emergency Medical Dispatch System.
- Must possess and maintain certification in DoD Hazardous Materials Awareness.
- Must possess and maintain certification in Washington State Police Information Network.
- Must obtain and maintain DoD Telecommunicator I and II.
- Responsible for attaining continuing dispatch and intrusion detection education requirements through in-service training offered locally.
- Must maintain an overall compliance score of 90 percent or better, as reviewed by the Advanced Quality Assurance (AQUA) software.
- Must possess and maintain a valid State of Washington driver’s license.
- Position designated as moderate risk involving Public Trust. Appointment subject to background investigation including a credit check to determine suitability for Federal employment.
- One year of specialized experience which includes: maintaining an accurate status of all emergency response equipment and personnel to assure prompt and accurate response; ensuring personnel assigned to the shift carry out work assignments in accordance with instructions; providing emergency police, fire and medical services to the public by answering emergency 911 calls and ensuring emergency service personnel respond with appropriate personnel, equipment and pre‑arrival instructions.
- Experience with emergency communication, emergency response, and leadership.

- Domestic Defense Industrial Base/Major Range and Test Facilities Base Civilian Personnel Workforce
- Interagency Career Transition Assistance Plan
- Land Management Workforce Flexibility Act

- Priority Placement Program, DoD Military Reserve (MR) and National Guard (NG) Technician Eligible

- Time in Grade Requirement:
