$24.75 – $34.54

Job Summary

The Endoscopy Technician supports the GI physician under the supervision of a Registered Nurse. Duties include assisting the practitioner during a variety of endoscopic procedures, cleaning and maintaining scopes, ensuring proper infection prevention, managing inventory, troubleshooting equipment, and performing clinic duties when not attending procedures.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities
  • Assist the physician with the procedure, preparing the room and patient, anticipating needs, maintaining scopes, and positioning patients.
  • Explain procedures to the patient, provide instructions, offer emotional support, record vital signs, assist with admission/discharge, label specimens, complete documentation, and make follow‑up calls.
  • Report patient findings to the supervisor or RN in a timely manner.
  • Follow infection control procedures, support quality improvement and regulatory compliance, disinfect scopes, process sterility, and maintain work areas.
  • Maintain understanding of equipment, order supplies, and keep adequate inventories in procedure rooms and related spaces.
  • Perform clinic duties as a Medical Assistant when not assisting during procedures.
  • Attend educational programs, unit meetings, and committees, contribute to performance improvement, and assist in training new personnel within scope.
  • Execute special projects and other related duties as assigned.

Organizational Responsibilities

Required Education And Experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Associate’s degree preferred.
  • Completion of a Surgical Technology, Anesthesia Technologist, Certified Nurse Assistant, or Medical Assistant program required.
Required Licenses, Certifications and/or Registrations
  • Current Surgical Technologist Certification, Nursing Assistant Certification, or Certified Medical Assistant licensure in Washington state required.
  • Endoscopy Technician Certificate preferred.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required within 90 days of hire.
Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
  • Sterile processing, scope processing and maintenance, patient care, and time management.
Physical Requirements

The position requires lifting less than 10 pounds and lifting between 10–35 pounds on a constant basis (>70% of the time). Lifting more than 35 pounds occurs occasionally (~10–30% of the time). Carrying less than 10 pounds and carrying between 10–35 pounds occur frequently (30–70%). Carrying more than 35 pounds is rarely required (1–10%). Pushing and pulling loads between 0–35 pounds are required constantly throughout the workday.
