Loan Repayment Opportunities

NEW Health is a federally qualified health center (FQHC) and an NHSC approved site. Licensed health professionals are eligible to apply for the Washington State Health Professional Loan Repayment Program and may receive the National Health Service Corps (NHSC) scholarship and loan repayment benefits.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Provide individual and group counseling services within the scope of practice to help clients achieve personal, social, educational, and vocational development.
  • Use evidence-based practices and brief intervention models for behavioral health counseling.
  • Assist primary care providers with behavioral health staffing and consultation.
  • Collect psycho-social data and provide it to medical providers to support care management.
  • Perform mental health evaluations using approved tools to assess treatment and level of care.
  • Develop detailed client care plans and document them in the electronic health record.
  • Link clients with community resources.
  • Provide in-service training for NEW Health staff as requested.
  • Participate in community outreach activities as directed.
  • For staff with chemical dependency expertise:
    • Conduct chemical dependency assessments using approved instruments and determine suitability for referral.
    • Offer individual and group counseling and education focused on alcohol and drug treatment, relapse prevention, and cognitive behavioral change.
  • For staff with clinical supervision training:
    • Supervise and coordinate volunteers and behavioral health/social work students.
    • Facilitate peer review and chart audit processes as assigned.
  • Support a safe, respectful, equitable, and inclusive environment.
  • Travel may be required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Valid state licensure as a Licensed Advanced Social Worker, Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker, Licensed Mental Health Counselor, Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor, and/or Licensed Professional Counselor.
  • Two years of clinical practice with underserved populations desired.
  • Knowledge of community linkage resources.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Commitment to supporting a safe, respectful, equitable, and inclusive environment.
  • Computer skills required.
  • Consistent exercise of independent judgment and discretion.
  • Valid driver's license and insurance required.
Physical Demands

Movement around the facility between one-third and two-thirds of the day is required, as well as sitting at a workstation or patient rooms. Using hands occurs over two-thirds of the day, while reaching with arms less than one-third of the day. Communicating is required over two-thirds of the day. Lifting to 10 lbs. occasionally is required.
