Summary

SAILS Washington employs individuals who ensure a high standard of quality and safety in the delivery of residential services, coordinating the provision of services consistent with our philosophy of care.

Per‑Diem Details
  • Roles are on‑call or as needed with the ability to pick up open shifts or cover as required.
  • Required to pick up a minimum of one shift per week or as specified per pay period to be considered an employee.
  • Can work up to 31 hours a week; exceeding this threshold reclassifies the employee as full‑time with a block schedule.
  • PTO is not accrued; previously accrued PTO cannot be used while in this role. PTO may only be requested two weeks in advance for scheduled shifts.
  • Sick time accrues at one hour per 40 hours worked.
  • Reports to the Staffing & Development Program Manager.
Duties and Responsibilities
  • Provide support to program participants, meeting their needs, and facilitating community integration, including swimming.
  • Check in weekly with the Scheduling Program Manager regarding open shifts.
  • Can pick up shifts at multiple programs but must orient to each program’s plans before working with clients.
  • Complete all required training before becoming a Per Diem employee and maintain current training.
  • Complete the Per Diem checklist and monthly training.
  • Familiarize with the Residential Service Guidelines issued by the Division of Developmental Disabilities.
  • Treat clients with dignity and respect and uphold their right to make decisions.
  • Deliver instructional and support services as outlined in each participant’s Individual Instruction & Support Plan (IISP).
  • Meet participants’ daily needs: personal hygiene, food preparation, house cleaning, shopping, and health monitoring, including medication supervision.
  • Assist participants in accessing community outings, arranging or providing transportation as needed.
  • Provide informal counseling and problem‑solving support to participants.
  • Attend staff meetings as required by Program Supervisor, Site Supervisor, or Administrator.
  • Attend agency, DDD, and other required training sessions.
  • Participate in development and implementation of the IISP for each participant assigned.
  • Become Nurse Assistant Registered (NAR) at own expense initially and annually.
  • Enroll in and complete the Nurse Delegation study course and pass related tests within 30 days of employment.
  • Maintain professional relationships with service providers, clients’ parents/guardians, and agency staff, and complete required documentation (medication logs, shift notes, progress notes, data sheets, incident reports, client financial records).
  • Follow agency policies, general personnel policies, and community protection staff responsibilities.
  • Maintain a valid driver’s license, reliable vehicle, and willingness to transport clients in own vehicle.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by Area Director, House Manager, or Program Manager.
Licensing Requirements
  • Pass Washington State background check.
  • First Aid/CPR Certified within 120 days of employment (training available).
  • Blood‑borne pathogens training within 120 days of employment (training available).
  • Obtain CPI Blue Card.
Ongoing Eligibility Qualifications
  • Complete and pass background check screening upon hire and every two years thereafter or as requested.
  • Maintain active NAR, CPR/First Aid, Nurse Delegation, and other required certifications.
  • Complete at least 12 hours of continuing education annually.
Experience
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Preferred:
    Personal experience supporting individuals with developmental disabilities exhibiting challenging behaviors.
  • Must have a valid in‑state driver’s license and current vehicle insurance.
