Advanced Care Practitioner – On Call (Physician Assistant – Certified or Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner)

Monthly salary: $11,071.00 – $18,145.00
The Department of Corrections is seeking a highly motivated and qualified Advanced Care Practitioner (ACP) for the Clallam Bay Corrections Center located in Clallam Bay, Washington. The PA/ARNP objective is, under the supervision of the Facility Medical Director, to deliver quality health care to CBCC’s patient population in a timely and professional manner, promote a healthy lifestyle and provide patient health‑care education.
This will include assessing, diagnosing, and treating the multitude of medical problems encountered. Additional objectives include monitoring, managing, coordinating and delivering health care and counseling, consulting on health services. Major administrative responsibilities include supervising and monitoring all levels of health care services delivered to the incarcerated population and assessing Health Service Managers and the Facility Medical Directors in monitoring expenditures, planning, and organizing health care services, facilities, and other programs.
Practices in accordance with DOC Policy and the WA DOC Health Plan, participate in Health Services Quality Improvement activities as appropriate, and participate in formal Clinical Oversight according to Facility and DOC Health Services Clinical Oversight structure. Clinical oversight will be provided by the CBCC Facility Medical Director.

Responsibilities Provide High‑Quality Medical Care- Diagnose and treat health‑related problems within scope of practice in accordance with agency guidelines and applicable standards of care.
- Ensure continuity of care.
- Perform minor surgical procedures as indicated and within scope of practice.
- Order, interpret, and act upon diagnostic testing as indicated.
- Prescribe medications in accordance with agency guidelines, including controlled substances as indicated.
- Provide medical and technical assistance to other health‑care personnel as needed.
- Seek consultation with colleagues, staff physicians, and outside medical consultants as indicated.
- Admit and care for infirmary/observation patients as indicated.
- Complete initial screening and physical examinations as indicated.
- Update OMNI database and PULHES codes as indicated.
- Present cases at CRC as indicated.
- Perform call duties.
- Effectively communicate verbally, in writing, and via computer or other electronic media with incarcerated individuals, their families, other health‑care personnel, custody, and other institutional personnel.
- Legibly document subjective and objective clinical findings, as well as the actions taken to deliver all aspects of health care in the health records.
- Protect the confidentiality of health records.
- Maintain accurate, legible, and complete records.
- Complete unusual incident reports as directed, collect data, investigate, and complete reports.
- Respond to verbal and written requests from incarcerated individuals and institution staff.
- Attend facility CQIP/QMP meetings and report back to nursing and support staff to keep nursing staff engaged in improving patient care at every level, shift, and bedside.
- Participate/represent facility on state‑wide quality improvement initiatives; share our processes and learn from other facilities; implement best practices in patient care.
- Participate in Health Services Quality Improvement activities.
