The Medical Reserve Corps (MRC) Team Member is a volunteer position that assists Marathon County Emergency Management and the Marathon County Health Department in disaster response, public health initiatives, community preparedness, and community health outreach. MRC volunteers are critical in enhancing community resilience by providing medical and non‑medical support during emergencies, public health crises, and other community events.
Responsibilities- Emergency Response Assistance during public emergencies, including natural disasters, pandemics, or mass casualty events; provide first aid or assist other community partners at shelters, emergency clinics, or points of dispensing (POD) sites; assist with damage assessments; support Multi‑Agency Resource Centers and the Emergency Operations Center.
- Training and Exercises: attend and complete MRC training sessions, including emergency preparedness, CPR/first aid, and disaster response courses; keep informed about new threats and develop readiness skills.
- Logistical support: provide logistical and administrative assistance during emergencies.
- Disaster Preparedness: assist in developing and implementing disaster preparedness and recovery plans.
- Community Outreach: participate in outreach programs to educate and promote emergency preparedness, distribute health information, and encourage healthy behaviors.
- MRC volunteers may be medical or non‑medical professionals, including physicians, nurses, pharmacists, dentists, EMTs, firefighters, veterinarians, epidemiologists, interpreters, chaplains, office workers, and more.
- Experience or interest in public health, emergency management, or community engagement is a plus.
- Demonstrate a strong commitment to volunteerism and community service.
