Physical Therapist

A Physical Therapist plans and executes rehabilitation programs to help patients return to a higher level of physical function after an accident or surgery. They help manage or lessen pain experienced by individuals with degenerative conditions or terminal illnesses. Physical Therapists assist patients through a combination of physical activity, reflexology, massage, and muscular and skeletal manipulation. The PT collaborates with other therapists to achieve the best outcomes for the patient.

This role involves 90% outpatient care and 10% inpatient care.

Responsibilities include consulting with patients to learn about their physical condition and symptoms. Reviewing their medical history and referrals from providers is essential. Diagnosing movement dysfunction by listening to patients and observing their movements is a key task. Developing individualized treatment plans is necessary. Coaching patients and teaching them therapeutic exercises and stretches to improve their condition is vital. Using hands-on therapy such as massage to ease patients' pain and promote healing is required.

Keeping detailed records related to patient conditions, care plans, therapies, and progress is essential. Reporting progress and current status to appropriate parties is expected. Performing other assigned duties and responsibilities as needed is required. Professional Communication entails maintaining confidentiality regarding patients, families, and staff. Interacting with individuals from diverse backgrounds is necessary. Providing information to patients and families to reduce anxiety and convey sensitivity and caring is important.

Maintaining professional relationships and communicating relevant information to other healthcare team members is required. Initiating communication regarding clinical priorities for care is essential. Reporting security concerns related to medical and healthcare workers to supervisors or directors is necessary. Teamwork involves accepting assignments based on priority, competencies, and unit needs. Working closely with other care providers to complete tasks and provide clinical assistance is expected.

Reporting on patient conditions to those who require information, including physicians and nurses, is essential. Initiating problem-solving and conflict resolution skills to foster effective work relationships is required. Reporting to work on time and as scheduled is expected. Professional Development includes attending in-services, continuing education, and departmental staff meetings. Contributing to annual reviews of peer performance as requested is necessary.

Responding to problems or opportunities to improve care or customer service is expected.
