This position is responsible for developing, organizing, planning, leading, and directing clinical and management activities for the Emergency Department, in accordance with hospital policies and procedures. Accountable for daily operations and oversight of nursing practice and patient care delivery. Participates as a member of the health care team in maintaining continuity and quality of patient care. Contributes to organizational operations and supports the mission by fostering interdepartmental communication/collaboration.

Demonstrates a high level of ability in leadership, supervisory skills, problem solving, patient advocacy and public relations.

• Manages and evaluates the clinical operations, programs and resources of the assigned clinical areas to assure the safe and appropriate delivery of care.
• Ensures that all activities are conducted in a timely and cost‑effective manner and in compliance with organizational values, professional standards, internal policies and applicable regulatory requirements.
• Participates in the development of and implements new clinical systems, programs and policies to enhance existing services and raise the standard of care for the patient population served.
• Oversees the resolution of daily clinical administrative and operational issues. Rotates Administrator On Call duty.
• Ensures all aspects of clinical operations are conducted and documented in compliance with relevant internal policies, standards, procedures, and applicable regulatory and accrediting body requirements.
• Participates in annual budget process, reviews revenues and expenses, completes Departmental Operating Reports (DOR) on a monthly basis.
• Participates, as a key member of the management team for the assigned clinical function, in the development of strategies, initiatives and programs addressing matters such as: provision of new services or programs, standardization of procedures across the organization, maximizing resources, improving cost‑effectiveness of clinical services provided, enhancing patient outcomes, satisfaction and other issues of similar complexity and consequence.
• Collaborates with other departments such as pharmacy, ambulatory clinics and outpatient procedure unit to ensure timely outpatient services are available.
• Assists as needed in the Emergency Department. Acts as a resource during times of high volume or acuity working with the Emergency Department charge nurse to ensure safe quality care is always provided.
• Assumes authority and responsibility for hospital operations in the absence of Director of Nursing Services and Chief Nursing Officer.
• Co‑leads Unit Based Team and Staffing Committee for unit.
• Engages with both internal and external partners to advance the Summit Pacific mission and vision. Participates in professional groups/associations. Participates in or leads work groups, projects and committees as assigned.
• Performs special projects and other related duties as assigned.
