Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT)

The Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) performs various technical, clerical, and information systems related procedures in Chemistry, Hematology, Microbiology, Blood Bank, specimen procurement, and other laboratory areas as requested on patient specimens, control materials, and proficiency samples. The MLT operates laboratory equipment within established policies to provide timely and accurate test results to physicians, ensuring high-quality patient care. Responsibilities include monitoring quality control procedures and maintaining involvement in the Laboratory Quality Improvement program.

Responsibilities include:

  • Analyze laboratory findings to check the accuracy of results.
  • Enter data from analysis of medical tests and clinical results into computer systems for storage.
  • Set up, clean, and maintain laboratory equipment.
  • Prepare and analyze slides and specimens of human blood, tissue, or other cells.
  • Operate, calibrate, and maintain equipment used in quantitative and qualitative analysis such as chemistry, hematology, coagulation, and microbiology.
  • Establish and monitor quality assurance programs to ensure accuracy of laboratory results.
  • Collect and study blood samples for various diagnostic purposes, using microscopic techniques.
  • Conduct chemical analysis of body fluids to determine the presence of normal and abnormal components.
  • Provide technical information about test results to physicians, family members, and researchers.
  • Perform specimen collection on patients of all age groups, including venipuncture and capillary draws.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure:

  • Must have an active Phlebotomist License.
  • Active Washington State MA-P License required.

Schedule:

Monday to Thursday, 0930 to 2000.

Assignment Duration:

This is a 13-week contract position.
