Access Specialist I - Patient Services
Join a dynamic healthcare team in the Pacific Northwest region as a Patient Access Specialist I, where your role is vital in delivering compassionate and high-quality customer service. This position focuses on ensuring patients are accurately scheduled and registered for various clinical and hospital services, supporting them throughout their care journey, including managing financial responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities- Schedule and register patients using specialized software, ensuring data accuracy including patient identification and insurance verification.
- Verify referrals and pre-authorizations for applicable services.
- Conduct registration interviews prior to initial visits.
- Perform point-of-service collections such as co-payments and co-insurances, and manage daily cash drawer operations.
- Operate multi-line phone systems to handle incoming calls professionally and efficiently.
- Respond to patient inquiries, ensuring comfort, dignity, safety, and confidentiality.
- Complete daily work queue assignments and general administrative tasks, including mail processing.
- Research and suggest workflow improvements and participate in special projects as assigned.
- High School Diploma or equivalent required;
Associate's Degree preferred. - Healthcare experience is advantageous.
- Familiarity with medical terminology and healthcare revenue cycle is preferred.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is encouraged.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment while maintaining professionalism and accuracy.
- Proficiency with insurance verification systems and strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office.
- Excellent problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills.
- Capacity to handle confidential information with discretion.
- Flexibility to adapt to changing workloads and tasks.
- Team-oriented mindset with a commitment to fostering a positive work environment.
