Employee Relations, Regulatory Compliance Specialist
This is a part-time (25-30 hours per week) position with the potential to turn into a full-time position.
POSITION SUMMARYAs the Human Resources Coordinator for Island Market, this position is responsible for coordinating all aspects of the employee lifecycle, including employee engagement, onboarding, and day-to-day employee support. The Human Resources Coordinator reports directly to the Director of HR & Finance and also provides support to the General Manager as needed.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Recruitment & Hiring
- Coordinate recruitment of employees, including monitoring, marketing, and posting available positions.
- Coordinate prescreening, interviewing, hiring, and reference/background checks for applicants.
- Orient new employees and explain duties, responsibilities, compensation, benefits, and other relevant information.
- Maintain stock levels and issuing of uniforms.
Benefits & Compensation Administration
- Coordinate health insurance, and other benefits.
- Keep current on benefit options, eligibility rules and procedural details, enabling effective support for employees in understanding and using their benefits.
Employee Records
- Document, organize, file and update employee information; ensure required information is current and historical information is maintained.
- Interpret and explain policies, procedures, laws, standards or regulations related to employment.
- Keep up to date on current HRIS system(s).
Workplace Safety & Culture
- Assist the Director of HR in conducting investigations and document workplace injuries; maintain injury case files.
- Monitor the store for employee safety; ensure employees understand and comply with safety procedures.
- Ensure common areas (such as the break-room) are well-maintained for employees.
- Create and maintain employee GPTW activities (STLFT, birthday or anniversaries recognitions)
Performance & Employee Relations
- Maintain and update HR documents including the employee handbook.
- Confer with management to develop and implement personnel policies.

- Work with all other company departments.
- Be ready and accept other assignments as time and need require.

Job Qualifications & Required Skills & Key Competencies
- Preferred 2 years experience in office administration and human resources.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality
- Detail oriented with excellent organizational skills
- Knowledge of Excel and Word
- Experience in a similar environment
- Ability to calculate discounts and percentages
- Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously
- Self-starter and manage time wisely
- Regularly exposed to dust, odors, oil, fumes and noise
- Exposed to a combination of office and store environments
- Required to sit, stand, walk, bend, and lift objects of up to 50 lbs
