Nichols Brothers Boat Builders is seeking an experienced HR Generalist to support our shipbuilding workforce. This role is ideal for an HR professional who thrives in a hands-on, operational setting and enjoys being a visible, trusted partner to the business. This is a 100% in-office role, embedded in an active shipyard environment, supporting leaders and employees across operations, trades, and administration.

the Role
  • Serve as the on-site HR point of contact for employees and supervisors
  • Support employee relations, performance management, and workplace issue resolution
  • Administer onboarding, benefits, leaves, and personnel changes through HRIS
  • Maintain accurate, confidential employee records (electronic and paper)
  • Support recruiting efforts, including postings, applicant tracking, and hiring coordination
  • Coordinate 90-day and annual performance review cycles
  • Ensure compliance with federal and Washington State employment laws
  • Reinforce company policies, safety standards, and workplace expectations
  • Generate HR reports and analyze workforce trends (turnover, absenteeism, staffing)
  • Assist with training coordination and workforce development initiatives
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Required Skills
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, or related field
  • 3+ years of HR Generalist experience, preferably in manufacturing, construction, maritime, or industrial environments
  • Strong employee relations and coaching skills
  • Working knowledge of employment law and HR best practices
  • Highly organized, adaptable, and comfortable in a fast-paced, on-site setting
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office; experience with HRIS required
  • SHRM-CP preferred
  • $34.00 - $42.00 per hour
