Overview
We are Lockheed Martin. We are seeking a highly motivated IT Systems Engineer to support mission critical flight test and simulation environments, including the Multi-ship Virtual Development Lab (MVDL). This role blends traditional enterprise IT administration with hands-on support of advanced simulator systems used in test and evaluation. The ideal candidate is comfortable working across Windows Server and Linux environments, excels at technical troubleshooting, and has experience supporting cybersecurity and vulnerability management efforts in regulated or mission focused environments.
Responsibilities- Administer, maintain, and troubleshoot Windows Server systems supporting flight test equipment and simulators
- Administer and support Linux systems used in simulation and test environments
- Perform system hardening, patching, and vulnerability remediation in coordination with cybersecurity requirements
- Conduct and support vulnerability scanning using tools such as Nessus, and assist with findings analysis and remediation tracking
- Monitor system health and logs using Splunk, supporting troubleshooting and operational awareness
- Serve as an administrator and simulator operator for the MVDL simulator, including:
- User and system account management
- System configuration and baseline maintenance
- Supporting test events and simulation executions
- Assisting engineers, pilots, and test teams during simulator operations
- Diagnose complex system issues across hardware, operating systems, networks, and applications
- Support system documentation, procedures, and audit artifacts
- Participate in system tag-ups, planning meetings, and cross-site coordination activities as required
Must be a US Citizen. This position is located at a facility that requires special access.

- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field or equivalent relevant experience
- Active DoD Secret security clearance
- Experience administering or supporting Windows operating systems (server or enterprise environments)
- Experience administering or supporting Linux systems
- Ability to work effectively in mission-critical or operational environments with a high level of attention to detail and accountability
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a technical team
- CompTIA Security+ Certification
- Experience administering Windows Server environments, including Active Directory, Group Policy, patching, and system troubleshooting
- Experience supporting SUSE and/or Red Hat Linux in operational environments
- Experience with vulnerability scanning and remediation, including tools such as Nessus
- Familiarity with log aggregation and monitoring tools, such as Splunk
- Experience supporting simulators, labs, or complex test environments, including simulator or lab operations
- Familiarity with cybersecurity compliance environments, including STIGs, security controls, or vulnerability management processes
- Experience working in DoD, aerospace, or other highly regulated technical environments
- Experience supporting virtualized systems or specialized test hardware
This position requires a government security clearance; you must be a US Citizen for consideration.

Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits. - Schedule for this Position: 4x10 hour day, 3 days off per week
