DescriptionThe Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) serves as a clinical operational liaison between the units and the Director of Nursing. He/she is responsible for the daily clinical operations of the Nursing Units including ensuring compliance with center policies and procedures, practice standards and regulations. Additionally, he/she is responsible for facilitating the implementation of the care delivery model and processes, mentoring staff, coordination and communication with other departments, and ensuring patient and family satisfaction.
In the absence of the DON, the ADON assumes the duties and responsibilities of the DON.
- Licensure and
Experience:
Active R.N. license with a minimum of three years of nursing experience, including at least one year in a supervisory role; long-term care or geriatric experience preferred. - Education:
BSN preferred, with proven skills in organizing and managing nursing services and personnel. - Communication and Clerical
Skills:
Proficient in reading, writing, and speaking English, with clerical ability to analyze reports and data. - Certifications:
Current BLS/CPR certification (as required by state regulations).
- Nursing Department Leadership:
Support the Director of Nursing in managing the nursing department, including staffing, scheduling, and enforcing policies. - Quality Assurance and Compliance:
Ensure regulatory compliance, participate in chart audits, and oversee infection control, care planning, and continuous quality improvement initiatives. - Staff Development and Oversight:
Participate in hiring, training, and performance reviews while promoting professional growth and ensuring the delivery of consistent, high-quality care.
