Head of AI & Automation

Location: On-site — Audubon, PA or Tampa, FL (3+ days/week in office)
Pay Range: $180,000–$200,000 base, plus performance bonus

Delaware Valley Companies is hiring its first Head of AI & Automation to modernize how a fast‑growing paving and excavation company runs. You will own the systems, integrations, and automations that take manual effort out of the business and let it scale. This is not a passive AI role, and it is not a traditional IT position. It is a hands‑on builder role for someone who has personally implemented AI, automation, and system integrations to solve real operational problems.

You will start as the builder. As the function proves out, you will have the opportunity to grow it and lead a small team.

Your first 6 to 12 months focus on estimating, project management, and operational workflows, the areas where automation pays off fastest. Specifically:

• Map existing estimating and project management workflows with the people who run them, then automate the manual steps that slow them down.
• Build integrations between Net Suite, Microsoft 365 (SharePoint, One Drive), and the field tools the business relies on, so data flows without rekeying.
• Design dashboards and workflow tools that give operational leaders real visibility.
• Evaluate AI tools against actual business problems and put the ones that earn their keep into production.

Once the foundation is in place, this role expands across finance, accounting, AR/AP, sales, and enterprise business systems, and into building and leading the team that supports continued domestic and international growth.

• Hands‑on experience building AI and workflow automation solutions in a real business, not just evaluating them.
• Strong background in programming, software development, or systems engineering.
• Direct experience with APIs, integrations, and data automation.
• Experience with Net Suite (or a comparable ERP) and the Microsoft 365 stack, including Power Automate, SharePoint, and the Graph API.
• Ability to sit with operational leaders, understand a messy process, and turn it into a scalable technical solution.
• Strong problem‑solving, communication, and project management skills, and the comfort to work across operations, finance, estimating, project management, and executive leadership.

The three in‑office days are how this role wins early. You get direct, daily access to the estimators, project managers, and operational leaders whose work you are automating. That access is the difference between tools that get used and tools that get ignored. You will be based at our Audubon, PA or Tampa, FL office.
