Information Technology Technician

*** 26/27 School Year Only - Part time position 20 hours per week ***

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Work under the supervision of the Director of Information Technology.
  • Provide technical assistance supporting district-wide technology relating to networks, hardware, and software via in-person / telephone support to ensure minimal down time and improve student and staff productivity.
  • Provides technical support for users across the district's 3 core school buildings and 3 support buildings. All located on the same campus.
  • Maintain and develop, when necessary, technical documentation for the purpose of providing instruction and reference. Provide staff training sessions.
  • Researches and recommends appropriate software or hardware for users' needs; installs software and updates.
  • Assist in maintaining and supporting district inventory, imaging, software licensing, help desk tickets
  • Effectively troubleshoots and supports PC and Apple hardware, servers, printers, and other peripherals.
  • Provide support for District's Network infrastructure - i.e. wireless connections, switches, hubs, new wire installation, termination of RJ-45 connectors and CAT 5e/6 connections
  • Receives and responds to Help Desk inquiries from staff members regarding technology problems.
  • Prepares and/or submits various other records and reports, computer manuals, monthly reports, analytical/diagnostic reports, training materials, inventory lists, spreadsheet, logs, work schedules, memos, correspondence, etc.
  • Manages special projects related to information technology.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Director of I.T.

Qualifications:

  • Working knowledge and hands-on experience with personal computers, internet/intranet protocols and standards.
  • Provides excellent customer service to technology users throughout the school district.
  • Represents the Information Technology Department professionally at all times.
  • Functions as a team player, who works to bring technology to students.
  • Seeks help when needed.
  • Ability to maintain accurate records.
  • Ability to work under limited supervision following standardized practices and/or methods.
  • Ability to diagnose, and solve problems, and exercise independent judgment.
  • Ability to plan, organize, prioritize work, complete tasks, and meet deadlines in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative relationships with persons with diverse technical knowledge and skills. Including district administrative staff, and school building staff and students.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects.
  • Follows through on all assigned tasks to completion.
  • Must be punctual, dependable, self-disciplined, and have excellent attendance.
  • Able to maintain confidentiality when dealing with sensitive information and data.
  • Strong customer service skills and understanding of business telephone etiquette required.
  • Demonstrate effective communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Valid Washington State Driver's License. Travel between district locations utilizing personal vehicle.

REPORTS TO:

Executive Director, Information Technology

SALARY:
Dependent upon experience and education

HOURS/DAYS: 7:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m./260 day contract/ 20 hours per week

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

The duties of this job require the employee to regularly sit and use hands to type, finger, feel, or handle; reach with hands and arms; and manually keyboard. Sitting for extended periods of time is required. Close and color vision/inspection is also required. The employee is also expected to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
