Position SummaryThe Assistant Director of Nursing provides direct nursing care to residents to meet both the physical and emotional needs of each resident. Allows residents to function at maximum capabilities and communicates with resident in a respectful, empathetic manner so that the resident’s individuality and rights are promoted and maintained.
Essential Job Functions & Responsibilities- Plan, develop,oversee,andassistwithall staffing schedules for thehouseholds.
- Provide input/develops performance evaluations and recommends actions on employee complaints, resolution, terminations, etc.
- Develop,maintain, and update written policies and procedures that govern the day-to-day nursingoperations of the health center in coordination with Director of Nursing.
- Make written and oral reports/recommendations to the Director of Nursing as necessary/required, concerning the operation of the nursing staff.
- Assistin the evaluation of the health care services needed for each residentrelativeto the level of lifestyle accommodations. Communicates and counsels with residents and family membersregardingpotential problems, needs, and care plans as appropriate.
- Serves as a liaison for staff transitions from shift to shift and promotes cooperation between departments.
- May provide oversight ofMDS transmission and completion.
- Participateincommunitysurveys, inspections, etc. made by authorized government agencies.
- Overseeinfection control programs and reporting.
- Workwith Director of Nursing and other leadership team members on quality assurance performance monitoring.
- Works with and oversees restorative nursing in coordination with Wellness Director and Director of Nursing.
- Provide leadership to the team inabsenceof theDON.
- Perform other duties as instructed by the Director of Nursing.
- Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing plus have a minimum of three - five years experience in nursing administration in a geriatric setting.
- Must possess a current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Iowa.
- Knowledgeable in nursing and medical practices and procedures, as well as laws, regulations, and guidelines that pertain to long-term care.
- Strong supervisory and leadership skills to develop/supervise nursing personnel in a team environment.
