Overview
Position: RN/LPN in a long-term care setting at United Presbyterian Home, Washington, IA 52353. This part‑time role (no weekends) involves implementing the nursing process for the total care of residents and supervising nursing personnel. The RN/LPN assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates resident care and requires strong interpersonal, communication, and supervisory skills.
Responsibilities- Interpret and efficiently execute the medical care plan as it relates to nursing, providing skillful, thorough, organized, and safe nursing care.
- Abide by UP Home policies and procedures and interpret them to personnel, residents, staff, and the public.
- Communicate information regarding residents’ status to families, physicians, and other health care members.
- Assume responsibility and accountability for individual nursing judgments and actions.
- Maintain a safe, therapeutic environment.
- Participate in efforts to establish and maintain conditions of employment conducive to high-quality nursing care.
- Maintain significant and complete records of nursing observations and care.
- Evaluate resident care provided by oneself and other team members in relation to identified needs of each resident.
- Keep other personnel informed of any significant changes in resident condition or care problems.
- Continue professional growth through attendance of inservice meetings, continuing education courses, and professional meetings.
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
- Current license in the State of Iowa.
- Previous experience with geriatric patients desirable.
- Thorough knowledge of medical, social, and psychological needs of residents in this type of community.
- Willingness to perform non-professional duties.
- Ability to supervise and instruct others.
- Well-groomed, courteous, tactful, patient, kind, and pleasant when dealing with residents and staff.
- Acute sense of responsibility.
- Spirit of cooperation and enthusiasm to foster rehabilitation and growth.
