About the Role
The Quality Manager is accountable for the site’s quality performance, including product conformity, quality metrics, corrective actions, customer satisfaction, and development of the quality team. This role serves as the primary quality representative for the facility and works closely with Operations, Engineering, Material Science, Maintenance, and Supply Chain to drive operational excellence and a culture of quality.
Responsibilities- Lead and develop the site’s Quality Supervisors, Quality Engineer, and Quality Technicians through coaching, performance management, training, and succession planning.
- Own overall site quality performance, including First Pass Yield (FPY), internal defects, customer quality, Cost of Poor Quality (COPQ), and other key performance indicators.
- Ensure compliance with the Quality Management System (QMS), quality procedures, customer specifications, and regulatory requirements.
- Drive a culture of quality, accountability, continuous improvement, and operational excellence throughout the facility.
- Lead cross-functional problem-solving efforts, ensuring timely completion and effectiveness of root cause investigations and corrective actions.
- Partner with Operations, Engineering, and Material Science to improve manufacturing processes, reduce variation, and improve product quality.
- Review quality trends, analyze performance metrics, and develop action plans to improve site performance.
- Ensure effective containment, disposition, and resolution of nonconforming materials and production issues.
- Lead internal and external quality audits and ensure timely resolution of audit findings.
- Support new product introductions, process validations, equipment qualifications, and significant process changes.
- Develop and manage the site’s quality budget, staffing plans, and resource allocation.
- Standardize quality processes and ensure alignment with quality initiatives across all manufacturing locations.
- Support customer complaint investigations and warranty activities.
- Maintain a safe work environment by ensuring compliance with all company safety policies and procedures.
- Strong leadership, coaching, and employee development skills.
- Thorough understanding of quality management systems and manufacturing quality principles.
- Knowledge of root cause analysis, corrective action, PFMEA, control plans, SPC, and process validation.
- Strong analytical and data-driven decision-making skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence departments.
- Experience leading internal and external audits.
- Strong project management, organizational, and prioritization skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and quality reporting systems.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing, or a related technical field required.
- 5+ years of manufacturing quality experience preferred.
- 3+ years of leadership experience managing quality teams preferred.
- Experience leading cross-functional problem solving and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Experience with Quality Management Systems in a manufacturing environment.
