WHAT YOU'LL DO
Cleaning & Maintenance
- Patrol your zone collecting litter, debris, and other waste from sidewalks, curb lines, and alleys
- Clean and sanitize odorous areas — including those affected by public urination, defecation, or vomit — using a power washer or other equipment
- Remove graffiti, stickers, posters, handbills, and other defacement from public infrastructure using scraping, chemicals, or paint
- Remove weeds and unsightly vegetation from sidewalks, tree grates, and surrounding areas by hand or using eco-friendly chemicals
- Operate mechanical equipment including pressure washers, sidewalk sweepers, electric utility vehicles, and Tennant ATLV vacuum units
- Assist with minor landscaping tasks such as mulching, flower planting, watering, and maintaining plants throughout the district
- Complete special assignments including pressure washing, painting, scrubbing, and other tasks that improve the appearance of the district
Community & Reporting
- Greet pedestrians, offer directions, and assist downtown residents, workers, and visitors
- Interact respectfully with unhoused individuals and connect them with available local resources when appropriate
- Observe and report suspicious activity, quality-of-life infractions, and criminal behavior to law enforcement and your supervisor
- Report infrastructure damage, graffiti on private property, and conditions adversely affecting the district via smartphone and two-way radio
- Log daily tasks and completed work using a smartphone and electronic work order platform
Potential Driving Duties
- Collect and dispose of garbage bags
- Conduct a basic vehicle inspection at the start of each shift and report any issues to your supervisor
