Equipment Operator
Responsible for daily activities regarding equipment operation and safety of equipment as well as the safety of the operator and its surroundings. The operator must be able to lift a proximity weight of up to 100 pounds, read chemical labels, pass required licensing, and may be encouraged to hold a WSDA private applicator license.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Lift a proximity of up to 100 pounds.
- Operate equipment such as forklift, tractor, ATV, etc.
- Complete a daily checklist before operating equipment (e.g., tire condition, oil levels).
- Hold forklift certification.
- Understand and use PPE appropriately.
- Perform basic math for chemical mixing in a sprayer tank.
- Operate equipment safely and be aware of surroundings.
- Work independently with minimal supervision.
- Pass a comprehensive 36‑point pesticide handler certification.
- Work under extreme heat and cold conditions.
- Work day and night shifts, weekends, and long hours as needed.
Education and Experience
- High school diploma or GED; or one to three months related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination.
- Read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
- Write simple correspondence.
- Present information to customers and colleagues effectively.
- Add, subtract, multiply, and divide using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals.
- Apply common sense to carry out written, oral, or diagram instructions.
- Resolve problems involving concrete variables in standardized situations.
- WSDA Pesticide Private Applicator License (encouraged).
- Forklift Certificate.
- Train the Trainer.
- Paraquat (Gramaxone) handler certificate.
- CPR/First aid.
- Driver’s License.
- Bilingual and biliterate (not required).
- Knowledge of Agworld (required).
- Understanding chemical recommendations (not required).
- Honest, trustworthy, respectful, culturally aware, flexible.
- Demonstrate strong work ethic and positive interaction with the public.
The job requires regular walking, using hands, speaking, hearing, standing, sitting, reaching, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, and touching or smelling. The employee regularly lifts and/or moves up to 100 pounds.
Work EnvironmentThe work environment includes wet or humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, outside weather, and extreme heat. Employees may be exposed to high or precarious places, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, extreme cold, and electrical shock. Noise levels are usually moderate.
