Inspector Magnetic Particle and Penetrant A (Fabrication Team).

Location:

Algona, Washington. This position is 100% onsite and requires a US Person to meet export‑control compliance requirements.

Job Overview

As a specialized inspector, you will play a critical role in maintaining the integrity and reliability of critical aerospace components. Your expertise in magnetic particle and penetrant methods will identify defects, improve processes, and support continuous quality improvement initiatives across cross‑functional teams.

Position Responsibilities
  • Set up, adjust, and operate magnetic particle and penetrant inspection equipment, interpreting results to accept or reject articles based on established standards.
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Quality, and Manufacturing teams to evaluate and implement process improvements and defect reduction initiatives.
  • Compile and maintain reports on inspection results, documenting nonconforming materials or processes.
  • Perform audits and surveillance of manufacturing and quality assurance processes to ensure compliance with specifications and procedures.
  • Analyze inspection requirements and coordinate work schedules and resources to optimize efficiency.
  • Troubleshoot inspection‑related problems and develop plans to resolve issues effectively.
  • Verify the accuracy and completeness of documentation, including manufacturing orders, drawings, and nonconformance reports.
  • Monitor and process non‑conforming parts and assemblies, ensuring proper documentation and adherence to Material Review Board dispositions.
  • Conduct process control checks on inspection chemicals and equipment to ensure compliance with specifications.
  • Apply magnetic fields and penetrants to parts, inspecting for defects under specified conditions and documenting findings.
  • Secure non‑conforming items in designated areas to maintain control and traceability throughout the inspection process.
  • Perform re‑inspections of reworked items per engineering disposition, communicating findings with relevant stakeholders.
  • Provide peer‑to‑peer training to assist other employees in procedures, equipment use, and standard interpretation.
  • Verify certifications for tools, equipment, and personnel to ensure compliance with operational standards.
  • Handle and monitor hazardous materials in compliance with safety protocols and regulations.
  • Sell completed jobs or in‑process checks to inspectors at appropriate steps, and assist other employees with setups and methods as needed.
Physical Demands and Potential Hazards
  • Lifting weights ranging from 10–15 lbs. to 15–35 lbs.
  • Reaching, handling, turning, twisting, lifting, lowering, climbing, balancing, bending, kneeling, crouching, and squatting.
  • Working in environments that may involve contact with metals, solvents, and coolants.
  • Operating near moving parts, sharp cutters, and potential slipping hazards.
  • Adapting to varying noise levels and atmospheric conditions.
  • Utilizing personal safety gear to protect face/eyes, hands/arms, and feet while performing job duties.
Basic Qualifications
  • Magnetic Particle or Dye Penetrant Certification OR equivalent on the job training hours completed for a Level II American Society for Nondestructive Testing (ASNT) Certification.
  • Previously or currently hold a NDT Level II Magnetic or Penetrant Certification.
  • NDI (non‑destructive inspection) or NDT (non‑destructive test) experience.
  • Ability to walk constantly throughout the workday; stand 6–8 hours per day; climb or work from stairs/steps up to 8 hours per day; climb ladders; bend and twist frequently up to six hours per day; squat and kneel.
  • Proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking English.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Ability to work in confined spaces.
  • Willing and able to work any shift.

Typical Education & Experience

High school graduate or GED preferred.
