Position Overview
Inspector Magnetic Particle and Penetrant – 51108. Join Boeing Commercial Airplanes’ Fabrication team in Algona, Washington, to perform critical inspections and support continuous improvement of manufacturing practices. You will collaborate with cross‑functional teams to enhance product quality and reduce defects.
Position Responsibilities- Set up, adjust, and operate magnetic particle and penetrant inspection equipment; interpret results to accept or reject articles.
- Collaborate with Engineering, Quality, and Manufacturing teams to evaluate and implement process improvements.
- Compile and maintain inspection reports, documenting nonconforming materials or processes.
- Perform audits and surveillance of manufacturing and quality assurance processes.
- Analyze inspection requirements and coordinate work schedules and resources for optimal efficiency.
- Troubleshoot inspection‑related problems and develop resolution plans.
- Verify documentation accuracy, including manufacturing orders, drawings, and nonconformance reports.
- Process non‑conforming parts, ensuring proper documentation and adherence to Material Review Board dispositions.
- Conduct process control checks on inspection chemicals and equipment.
- Apply magnetic fields and penetrants to parts, inspect for defects, and document findings.
- Secure non‑conforming items for traceability, and perform re‑inspections as required.
- Provide peer‑to‑peer training on procedures, equipment, and standard interpretation.
- Verify certifications for tools, equipment, and personnel.
- Handle hazardous materials in compliance with safety protocols.
- Assist with setup and method support for other inspectors.
- Magnetic Particle or Dye Penetrant Certification or equivalent on‑the‑job training for a Level
II ASNT Certification. - Experience with NDI or NDT (non‑destructive inspection).
- Physical ability to walk, stand, climb ladders, and bend or twist frequently throughout the workday.
- Proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking English.
- Experience working in confined spaces.
- Availability to work any shift.
Requires lifting items from 10lbs to 35lbs, reaching, handling, turning, twisting, climbing, balancing, bending, kneeling, crouching, and squatting. May involve contact with metals, solvents, and coolants; proximity to moving parts and sharp tools; exposure to noise and varying atmospheric conditions. Personal safety gear is required.
Location and Export Control100% onsite at Algona, Washington. Must meet Export Control compliance; a “US Person” (U.S. Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee) is required.
Union RepresentationThis hourly position is governed by the International Association of Machinists (IAM‑751) Collective Bargaining agreement.
Total Rewards & PaySummary pay range: $31.32/hour, with potential to earn up to $59.47/hour (as per the applicable collective bargaining agreement).
