INDUS provides industrial support services across the Undersea Weapons Department (Code 30), Test and Evaluation Department (Code 20), Undersea Systems & Sustainment Department (Code 40) and Unmanned and Theater Undersea Warfare Systems Department (Code 50), of the Naval Undersea Warfare Center (NUWC) Division, Keyport (NUWCDIVKPT). Requirements include providing technical support services associated with various industrial operations, depot repair activities, and torpedo intermediate maintenance functions.

Reporting to the Program Manager, the CNC Machinist performs manual and CNC machining, setup, and programming activities supporting HAAS CNC equipment in a classified environment on the NUWCDIVKPT Industrial Support Services (ISS) contract. This role has a strong emphasis on manual lathe and conventional machining (primary focus) as well as CNC setup and operation. It requires a self-starter with strong technical proficiency, attention to detail, and the ability to work across multiple systems in a fast-paced production environment.

This position is located in Keyport, WA.

• Perform manual machining operations (approximately 60% of duties), including setup and operation of conventional lathes, mills, and other machine tools in support of Code 31 DEPOT and Code 42 functions.
• Program, set up, and operate CNC machines (primarily HAAS systems) to fabricate precision components in support of Code 42 operations (approximately 40% of duties).
• Collaborate effectively with machinists, engineers, and other team members to resolve technical issues and ensure production accuracy and efficiency.
• Demonstrate strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and commitment to quality workmanship in all machining tasks.
• Interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and work instructions to ensure proper setup and machining processes.
• Maintain a safe, organized, and clean work environment in accordance with company and industry standards.
• Bid and proposal support if requested.
• Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

• Must be able to obtain and maintain a secret clearance.
• HS Diploma required.
• Minimum five (5) years of hands‑on machining experience, including significant experience with manual lathes and conventional machining operations (e.g., setup, turning, boring, threading, and precision measurement without CNC reliance).
• Experience independently setting up and operating 2-axis, 3-axis, and 5-axis CNC mills and lathes, including tooling, offsets, probing systems, and troubleshooting (not limited to machine operation).
• Working knowledge of G‑code programming, CNC machining fundamentals, and CAM software (including at least one (1) year of MasterCAM experience).
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, including Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T).
• Strong math skills (algebra, geometry, trigonometry) for calculating coordinates, tool paths, and machining parameters.
• Knowledge of cutting tools, machining parameters, and material properties for metals, plastics, and other machinable materials.
• Must possess basic computer literacy and data entry skills.
• Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (to include MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
