The Human Resources (HR) Generalist independently administers HR programs, advises supervisors and managers, manages employee relations matters, supports regulatory compliance, and oversees payroll, benefits, and HRIS administration. The HR Generalist is responsible for the effective delivery of HR services across employee relations, recruiting, training and development, benefits administration, organizational development, and workforce compliance. This position partners with company leadership to provide guidance on HR policies and practices, maintain high ethical standards, and ensure compliance with applicable employment laws and regulations.

Essential

Functions Payroll Administration
  • Administer payroll processes, including reviewing employee time records, ensuring compliance with company policies and wage and hour regulations, and resolving payroll discrepancies.
  • Process weekly payroll for all employees, ensuring timely and accurate payment of wages, deductions, and reimbursements.
  • Partner with department managers to address payroll and timekeeping issues and ensure consistent administration of company policies.
  • Maintain payroll records and ensure proper documentation for audits and reporting requirements.
  • Serve as the primary HR contact for employee questions related to payroll, timekeeping, and applicable policies.
  • Assist with the implementation and maintenance of timekeeping and payroll systems, including software updates and process improvements.
  • Collaborate with Finance and HR teams to ensure payroll accuracy and alignment with budget and benefits administration.
Employee Attendance
  • Administer attendance programs and ensure consistent application of attendance policies across the organization.
  • Administer leave of absence programs, including FMLA, ADA accommodations, workers' compensation, short-term disability, and other protected and non-protected leave programs.
  • Advise supervisors and managers on attendance-related corrective action and ensure consistent application of company policies.
  • Complete time and attendance module in HRIS.
Compensation and Benefits
  • Utilize best practices to ensure candidates are provided with competitive offers and employees are compensated in a fair and equitable manner.
  • Assist in development of job descriptions and wage schedules.
  • Administer employee benefit programs and ensure eligibility, enrollment, and compliance requirements are met.
  • Oversee benefit administration for insurance, 401k, COBRA, HSA, etc.
  • Coordinate and process workers compensation claims
Employee Records
  • Maintain proper storage, security, and use of employee personal data.
  • Must stay current on all regulations concerning employee records.
  • Maintain training records and monitor compliance with required company, regulatory, and safety training.
  • Maintain HR records and documentation in compliance with company policies and applicable legal requirements.
Employee Relations
  • Foster positive employee relations through regular employee interaction, issue resolution, and responsiveness to employee concerns.
  • Provide guidance and resources regarding workplace concerns, employee well-being, benefits, and available company programs.
  • Be available to employees on all shifts.
  • Serve on committees that support recruitment, retention, & engagement efforts.
  • Assist in employee disciplinary process as needed or assigned, consulting with managers and supervisors as to the proper treatment of employees during disciplinary proceedings ensuring fairness and consistent application of relevant policies.
