Position Summary
We are currently seeking a Shipping and Receiving Quality Inspector, responsible for verifying and keeping records on outgoing shipments and preparing items for shipment. The role includes comparing identifying information and counts, weights, or measures of outgoing shipments to verify information against bills of lading, invoices, orders, or other records.
Responsibilities- Reference customer specifications and Sonaca North America QAPs in performance of job duties.
- Move parts from production tables to shipping tables.
- Read work orders and verify proper count and buy‑offs.
- Examine parts for defects.
- Package and bundle parts per customer and Sonaca North America quality specifications.
- Move packaged/bundled parts from the part mark area to the source area.
- Build cardboard boxes for packaging of parts.
- Load packaged/bundled parts into wooden crates.
- Operate a vehicle to transport parts to/from local customers.
- Operate a forklift to move wooden crates to/from shipping to/from trucks/dock.
- Participate in team meetings and continuous improvement projects.
- Meet production and quality requirements.
- Serve on cross‑functional work teams.
- Cross‑train or assist in other work areas to meet fluctuating work demands.
- Affix shipping labels on packed cartons per customer specifications.
- Assemble wooden or cardboard containers or select pre‑assembled containers.
- Insert items into containers using spacers, fillers and protective padding.
- Examine outgoing shipments to ensure they meet specifications.
- Inspect pre‑assembled and partially or fully assembled aircraft parts and structures.
- Assist in establishing and documenting inspection criteria.
- Prepare parts and documentation to meet external criteria.
- Accurately interpret customer purchase orders, blueprints, mylars, engineering drawings and other documents related to job specifications.
- Conduct internal audits of the Quality Management System.
- Other duties as assigned.
- High school diploma or high school equivalency preferred; non‑holders must complete a pre‑employment assessment.
- At least 1 year of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
- Ability to work cooperatively in a team environment.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Self‑motivated and capable of multi‑tasking in a fast‑paced environment.
- Problem‑identification and solution‑execution skills.
- Understanding and compliance with all company confidentiality regulations.
- Data gathering, compilation, and report preparation skills.
- Computer literacy and knowledge of Windows operating systems.
- Valid ClassB Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) and a clean DMV record.
- Ability to sit or stand for extended periods.
- Ability to work in environments ranging from quiet to extremely loud.
- Required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) on the manufacturing floor, including eye, ear, and foot protection.
- Occasional lifting or moving of up to 10–50 pounds.
