Position: Quality Inspector (Weekend Shift)

Position Summary

We are currently seeking a Quality Inspector for our Weekend Day Shift to perform inspection functions of assembled parts. Inspectors check products and/or documents at various stages of production to validate processes and provide documentation required to show compliance to the Sonaca North America Quality System, while working under close supervision. Responsibilities also include reading and interpreting customer instructions, blueprints, charts and statistical information;

preparing parts and documentation for outside criteria and participating in work center and problem-solving teams as requested.

Job Responsibilities
  • Assist production personnel in establishing and documenting inspection criteria, preparing parts and documentation to meet outside criteria.
  • Complete all required inspection documentation and communicate as needed with customers.
  • Enter data into the Work Order Tracking System, including notes and recording data on the work order.
  • Document nonconforming material per the Quality System Requirements.
  • Assist in identifying part deficiencies and help prevent further recurrences.
  • Determine whether the product is acceptable or unacceptable according to work order and customer requirements.
  • Exercise "stop the job" authority at any stage of the process as needed.
  • Perform sampling inspection and adhesion testing requirements.
  • Maintain good housekeeping in the inspection areas.
  • Handle customer-supplied product with care.
  • Properly use calibrated thickness masters, shims, certified master material samples, etc.
  • Verify the job by matching actual parts with the work order, part number(s), printed and/or electronic pictures and part count.
  • Maintain Sonaca North America’s quality standards to meet and exceed customer expectations.
  • Access all applicable Prime customer specification requirements on the SharePoint site.
  • Manage time effectively so that production, quality and delivery schedules are met.
  • Interact professionally with co-workers and vendors, understand internal customers, and strive to maintain good relations with others.
  • Follow all safety requirements and enforce compliance.
  • Work overtime, when required (including weekends), on short notice.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Inspection Lead.
  • Respond quickly to inquiries and follow up as needed.
  • Embrace change to ensure overall success of the company.
Education & Experience
  • High school diploma or high school equivalency preferred; applicants without a diploma must complete a pre-employment assessment.
  • Ability to read and comprehend American English, including customer drawings, mylar, and sketches.
  • Good working knowledge of internal procedures, customer requirements, and processes performed in the chemical processing area.
  • Strong communication skills with inspection personnel, on-floor operators and customer service representatives.
  • Flexibility, self-driven attitude and willingness to become proficient in the Work Order Tracking Program and the Quality System on SharePoint.
  • Professionalism when dealing with subordinates and superiors.
  • Problem-solving skills to troubleshoot and correct issues.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal directions.
  • Basic math skills.
  • Attention to detail and ability to handle stressful situations.
  • Honesty and ethical conduct in all actions.
  • Motivational, presentation, organizational, planning, and analytical skills are desired.
  • Positive attitude, dependability, strong work ethic and demonstrated team-building capabilities.
Physical Requirements

Ability to sit or stand for extended periods. Noise levels ranging from quiet to extremely loud. Required to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) when working on the manufacturing floor, including eye, ear, and foot protection. May occasionally lift or move 10–50 pounds.
