Utilizes the nursing process to provide patient care. Maintains professional accountability for provision of patient care for the assigned patients. About the Surgical & Orthopedic Care UnitJoin a fast-paced, high-acuity 30-bed Surgical and Orthopedic Unit that cares for a diverse population of medical and post-surgical patients. Nurses on this unit gain valuable experience in both medical-surgical nursing and orthopedic nursing while working alongside a collaborative interdisciplinary team.
Patient Populations Include:Orthopedic surgery patients including total knee, hip, and shoulder replacements
Post-operative general surgery patients
Appendectomies
Cholecystectomies
Colon resections
Bariatric surgery patients
Sepsis treatment and recovery
Pancreatitis care
Stable pneumothorax management
Unit HighlightsNurse-to-patient ratio of approximately 1:6

Registered Nurse Qualifications Required EducationGraduate of an accredited Registered Nursing (RN) program
LicensureActive Registered Nurse (RN) license
Missouri RN License or Compact State RN License
Must meet all applicable state board of nursing requirements
CertificationsBLS (Basic Life Support) required within 30 days of hire
ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) required
Additional unit-specific certifications as required
Physical RequirementsAbility to lift, push, and pull up to 50 pounds
Ability to stand and walk for extended periods
Ability to bend, kneel, squat, twist, and perform physical patient care activities
