Position Overview:

The Washington Township School District is seeking a dedicated, empathetic, and highly qualified Special Education Teacher to lead our Emotional Regulation Impairment (ERI) program at Port Colden School. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of behavior intervention strategies, trauma-informed practices, and differentiated instruction. You will be responsible for creating a safe, structured, and supportive classroom environment that fosters both academic growth and emotional resilience for students facing regulation challenges.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement individualized academic and behavioral plans (IEPs) tailored to student needs.
  • Utilize proactive de-escalation techniques and positive behavior supports to foster a therapeutic learning environment.
  • Collaborate closely with the child study team, counselors, paraprofessionals, and families to ensure holistic student support.
  • Track, analyze, and report data regarding student academic and behavioral progress.

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Valid New Jersey Instructional Certification required.
  • NJ Teacher of Students with Disabilities (TOSTD) or Teacher of the Handicapped certification required (Standard, CEAS, or CE).
  • Strong communication and classroom management skills.
  • Experience working with students with emotional and behavioral needs is highly preferred.
