Systems Engineer, Electrical Engineering, Hardware Engineer
Program Overview
This program is focused on upgrading air traffic control systems at TRACON (Terminal Radar Approach Control) facilities across the country. Due to the scale and ongoing expansion of the effort, there is a high demand for qualified personnel, with multiple current openings and additional staffing needs anticipated.
ResponsibilitiesThere are two types of engineers needed: equipment engineers and systems engineers. Equipment engineers conduct on‑site assessments of air traffic control systems, inspecting, inventorying, and documenting hardware, software versions, and system interconnections. Systems engineers focus on equipment installation and configuration.
Key Responsibilities Equipment Engineer Responsibilities- Perform on‑site inspections of air traffic control systems at TRACON facilities
- Inventory and document hardware components, software versions, and system interconnections
- Verify compliance with connection and power requirements (e.g., 110‑volt grounded circuits)
- Catalog equipment configurations, physical layouts, and cabling
- Validate connectivity and operational status of existing equipment
- Identify discrepancies between installed equipment and documentation
- Coordinate findings with systems engineering and integration teams
- Support program documentation and reporting requirements
- Perform installation, replacement, and configuration of air traffic control system equipment
- Integrate hardware and software components into the operational system architecture
- Configure system parameters in accordance with engineering specifications and requirements
- Execute system bring‑up, checkout, and activation activities
- Conduct system integration testing and support site acceptance testing
- Troubleshoot system‑level issues across hardware, software, and network interfaces
- Ensure system implementations meet operational, safety, and performance requirements
- Support system cutover activities and transition to operational use
- Develop and update system installation, configuration, and test documentation
- Coordinate with operations, engineering, and program teams to resolve integration issues
