Must work effectively with the Board of Trustees, municipal officials, library patrons, community organizations, school groups and the general public. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Manages and directs the operations of a free public library, including the development of mechanized systems and ensuring the maintenance of the library facility.
- Oversees the development and maintenance of library’s collection and all programming.
- Recruits and assigns new employees, supervising and evaluating employee performance.
- Recommends library policies and procedures and implements them upon Board approval.
- Assists in the development of the library budget, controls library expenditures, and pursues additional sources of funding.
- Prepares and oversees the preparation of accurate and informative narrative and statistical reports.
- Oversees the establishment and maintenance of essential records and files.
