Position Summary
The Fire & EM Instructor/Coordinator will teach certification and non-certification courses and assist the program director in coordinating the offerings within the service area.

- Associate Degree in a fire or EM-related field and some experience teaching Fire & Emergency Management courses. Prior experience with registration and instruction within a NCCCS Continuing Education division.
- Teaching certification and non-certification continuing education courses in the Fire & Emergency Management department.
- Maintaining compliance with OSFM, NC Community College System, and Beaufort County Community College standards and policies.
- Maintaining and submitting accurate registration, attendance, and other records for courses taught to the director.
- Establishing and maintaining an organized, effective classroom and training site environment emphasizing safety and good housekeeping.
- Multitasking, prioritizing, and managing time effectively.
- Maintaining student, instructor, and staff confidentiality and protecting student consistent with Family Education Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) regulations.
- Representing Beaufort County Community College and the Fire & Emergency Management department in a professional manner at all times.
- Scheduling, managing, maintaining, and instructing Fire & EM courses related to the department’s Career and College Promise program.
- Identifying the training needs of Fire & EM departments in the Beaufort, Hyde, Tyrrell, and Washington County service area and coordinating the necessary schedules, instructors, and equipment to carry out those courses.
- Coordinating the assignments of adjunct instructors.
- Assisting the Director with administrative and organizational duties.
- Maintaining up-to-date knowledge of developments in the field of Fire & Emergency Management.
- Being willing to work some nights and/or weekends when needed.
- Performing related duties as assigned by supervisor.
