Provide professional tutoring services to participants in the TRIO Student Support Services Program through individualized and small-group instruction in assigned academic disciplines. Support student achievement by reinforcing classroom instruction, strengthening study strategies, and promoting critical thinking, academic confidence, and independent learning. Collaborate with the TRIO Director, Academic Coach, faculty, and campus partners to enhance student success, persistence, graduation, and transfer outcomes while maintaining compliance with federal TRIO Student Support Services regulations.

Minimum Qualifications- Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution in the subject area to be tutored or a closely related discipline.
- Demonstrated knowledge of college-level coursework and instructional strategies.
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to explain complex academic concepts in a clear, patient, and engaging manner.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and educational technology platforms.
- Three years of experience tutoring or teaching in a college, university, or secondary educational setting.
- Experience working with low-income, first-generation college students and/or students with disabilities.
- Knowledge of effective learning strategies, study skills, and academic success techniques.
- Experience utilizing online tutoring platforms and learning management systems.
- Familiarity with federal TRIO programs and student support services.
- Provide individualized and small-group tutoring in assigned academic disciplines to TRIO Student Support Services participants.
- Reinforce classroom instruction by assisting students with course concepts, assignments, study techniques, and test preparation.
- Promote independent learning by helping students develop effective time management, organization, note-taking, and critical thinking skills.
- Maintain accurate documentation of tutoring sessions, student attendance, academic progress, and services provided in accordance with TRIO requirements.
- Collaborate with the TRIO Director, Academic Coach, faculty, and other campus personnel to identify student academic needs and appropriate interventions.
- Refer students to additional campus resources, including counseling, accessibility services, writing assistance, and other academic support services when appropriate.
- Assist with the development and facilitation of academic success workshops, study sessions, and supplemental learning activities.
- Maintain a welcoming, inclusive, and supportive tutoring environment that encourages student engagement, persistence, and academic excellence.
- Protect the confidentiality of student records and information in accordance with FERPA and TRIO program guidelines.
- Participate in required staff meetings, professional development activities, and TRIO events as assigned.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of TRIO Student Support Services.
Estimated Hours per Week up to 20 hours per week
RangeRange Peer Tutors are paid for tutoring sessions, drop-in hours, attending trainings, monthly in-service trainings and on‑on‑ones with the Academic Support Coordinator.
