This position is responsible for managing the engineering department, with a focus on building efficiency, design, and manufacturing.
Role and Responsibilities Designing and implementing plans for marine vessels, structures, and components
Creating and developing design sketches and digital models using CAD software
Conducting feasibility studies and risk assessments on proposed designs
Ensuring that designs comply with marine regulations and safety standards
Working closely with engineers to ensure optimal functionality and efficiency of designs
Evaluating the performance of marine vessels and structures, identifying problems, and making necessary modifications
Performing physical testing on models and prototypes to verify the design
Documenting the design process, specifications, and test results for future reference and maintenance
Collaborating with construction teams to oversee the building process
Continually updating knowledge on the latest marine technology, trends, and regulations
Ensure effective professional development, performance management, and retention.
Adhere to company, federal, state, and local business requirements, enforcing compliance and acting when necessary.
Analyze internal operations and identify opportunities for process improvement.
Develop actionable business strategies and plans that align with short- and long-term objectives, developed in tandem with the COO.Directly oversee Production and Engineering and partner with the COO on sales management to budget for sufficient investment capital to achieve growth targets over the near term.
Aggressively manage capital investments and expenses to ensure the company meets investor targets for growth and profitability.
Monitor performance with tracking and establish corrective measures as needed, and prepare detailed reports, both current and forecasting.
Maintain and build trusted relationships with key customers, clients, partners, stakeholders, management team, and employees.
Must have Marine Engineering experience
Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field.
Five (5) plus years of experience in leadership positions.
Must have excellent leadership skills, business acumen, and ability to effectively manage, lead, and supervise a team.
Understanding of advanced business planning and regulatory issues.
A solid grasp of data analysis and performance metrics.
Executive-level communication and influencing skills with the ability to resolve issues, build consensus among groups of diverse internal/external stakeholders, and have proven skills in negotiating and mediating conflict.
Must be able to excel at strategic thinking, be open to new perspectives and better ways to do things, and be creative, visionary, and manage innovation well.
