Responsibilities

• Assist in providing direct quality patient care under the direction and supervision of a registered nurse.
• Participate in the assessment of patients.
• Assist in developing, implementing, evaluating, and revising plans of care.
• Attend educational programs, staff orientation, and professional development activities.
• Develop a leadership role within the LPN scope of practice.
• Participate in the Service Excellence Program.
• Coordinate intradepartmental and interdepartmental patient‑care activities and promote harmonious professional relations.
• Utilize nursing education to provide direct patient care and improve patients’ physiological and emotional well‑being.
• Collaborate with health‑care team members, monitor patients, communicate changes in condition, and document care in the medical record in accordance with nursing standards.
• Collect and document patient data—including completing nursing admission records, interviewing patients and significant others for health histories, and documenting care responses.
• Observe patients throughout the shift and inform the registered nurse of status changes.
• Provide and promote quality care in accordance with hospital policies and nursing care standards.
• Participate in in‑service education, staff meetings, committee meetings, and continuing education to achieve quality patient care; fulfill annual mandatory education requirements.
• Follow hospital policies, procedures, and unit protocols.
• Report changing patient status that impacts unit staffing to the charge nurse.
• Adapt to changing patient‑care and unit situations, attend unit staff meetings unless excused, and direct unlicensed personnel as delegated by the supervising RN.
• Assume accountability for accepted responsibilities and tasks directed to others, demonstrating caring behavior toward patients, families, visitors, and staff.

• LPN Diploma
• Active NC LPN License or compact state license
• American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• Exposure and practice of medication administration through educational preparation and student clinical practice
• Less than 2 years of experience

$22.42 - $32.68 per hour, with final compensation dependent on career ladder placement (Licensed Practical Nurse I – III).

Requires a minimum of one 12‑hour shift per six‑week scheduling period.
