Minimum Qualifications- Basic Law Enforcement Certification.
- Successful completion of a thorough background investigation, medical and psychological exam and drug screening. Ability to perform large number of duties on foot/bicycle, such as securing of campus facilities. Ability and willingness to work outside in both cold and heat conditions for extended periods of time. Requires individual to work a flexible changing schedule that could include nights, weekends and on-call after hours and short notice as needed.
Excellent communication, interpersonal and negotiation skills. Ability to work effectively both independently and as a team member with diverse population of faculty, staff and students.
- Associate’s degree from a regionally accredited institution.
- Five years law enforcement experience.
- Experience with campus law enforcement.
The Police Officer is responsible for the enforcement of all applicable laws on the Beaufort County Community College campus. This individual must possess strong oral and written communication skills and be able to deal effectively with the campus population. He/she must meet and maintain minimum standards required of Police Officers by authority of North Carolina General Statue 74E. In addition, a valid NC operator’s license is required.
This individual will be required to work evenings and Saturdays and any other time when requested. Approximately ninety percent of the patrol function will be performed on foot. Individual reports to the Chief of Police. Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:
