This position averages 20 hours per week.

• Drives students to and from various sites to school sites.
• Provides limited medical and emergency assistance as necessary.
• Helps students with special needs in manipulating equipment they may use and entering and exiting the car.
• Is aware of conditions that may impair safe transportation for students.
• Ensures that wheelchairs, car seats, and other types of child safety restraint systems are properly and securely fastened.
• Reports problems and concerns of students to the designated authority.
• Cleans vehicle as needed to maintain a healthy and safe environment.
• Submits required reports, forms or documents in a timely manner.
• Performs other related work as required.

• Clear criminal background check.
• NC Driver’s license and clean driving record.
• Education and/or experience that demonstrates the qualifications to perform the job satisfactorily.
• Physical ability to exert up to 60 pounds of force occasionally to move or lift objects, and exert negligible force constantly.
• Ability to compare and judge data and characteristics.
• Strong interpersonal communication skills for conveying and receiving information.
• Ability to read procedures manual and understand written/emotional instructions.
• Common sense understanding to carry out instructions and problem solve with few variables.
• Verbal aptitude to record and explain procedures in Standard English.
• Numerical aptitude to utilize basic mathematical formulas.
• Form/spatial aptitude to inspect items for proper dimensions.
• Motor coordination and manual dexterity for handling safety equipment.
• Color discrimination and interpersonal temperament to adapt under stress.

• General knowledge of school system rules for transport of children via vehicle.
• General knowledge of appropriate action during emergency.
• General knowledge of safety precautions when transporting children.
• Some knowledge of different types of exceptionalities that may be encountered.
• Skill in lifting and placing students comfortably.
• Skill in operating and adjusting special equipment.
• Understanding the individual needs of exceptional students.
• Ability to maintain order in groups of children.
• Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships as required.

Position Type: Part-Time

Salary: $15.60 Per Hour
